Description

Every plastic surgeon has a handful of procedures that they perform regularly and a host of other procedures which they perform only occasionally. This list differs from surgeon to surgeon and locale to locale. The editors’ aim in producing Operative Procedures in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery was to create a list of the most commonly performed plastic and reconstructive procedures and then dedicate an entire chapter to teaching the reader how to perform each operation, concentrating on the technical aspects of the operation. Chapters are written by some of the best-known plastic surgeons and educators in the US, contributing a wealth of expertise for the reader to benefit from.

The focus of each chapter is intraoperative detail; the authors assume that the reader already has an understanding of specific indications to perform the procedure and of the underlying pathophysiology of the disease. The book provides a detailed explanation and description of the techniques involved in the successful performance of each operation. It may be used as a preoperative guide for the OR staff. This will improve the ability and efficiency of the OR staff to have the patient and room ready in a timely fashion. Additionally, this book provides the most commonly accepted CPT and ICD codes for each of the operations described. The goal of the book is to provide a guide for the performance of all of these operations in order to ‘level the playing field.’ This will inevitably improve patient safety and outcomes.

Operative Procedures in Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery will be an asset to any practicing plastic surgeon, fellow, or resident in plastic surgery as well as residents from surgical subspecialties who rotate through plastic surgery services.
